10 miles, 30,000 runners

Last Sunday we ran with 30,000 friends around DC for the Army 10 mile race.  (and today we cheered on my FIL as he ran the 26.2 miles of the MCMarathon!) Even though time got away from us and we didnt get to train as much as we hoped, thankfully we knew we could do it (after the Hartwood 10 miler in August with no training).  So a 5 am wake up call looked like this:

First official race bib as LME!
All decked out in our Blue!
30,000 runners looks a little like this, taking over the Pentagon parking lots.
We dont look too worse for the wear

At the expo we met women from this awesome organization: Wear Blue, run to remember.  They raise money (through merchandise sales) for the families of our fallen soldiers.  They have training programs, sponsor races, and are sponsoring mile 12 at this weekend's Marine Corps Marathon in honor of all the men and women we have lost while protecting our country.  So we wore blue.  We ran to remember.

We all finished! There were tons of people cheering us on which made the run go by faster, but all those interstate ramps sure made it feel long! We ran from the Pentagon to Arlington Nat'l Cemetery,  across the Memorial Bridge to the Kennedy Center, Washington Monument, down the Nat'l Mall, back into VA and to the Pentagon.  What a trip!

Our next races will hopefully be the Annapolis Half and the Alexandria Turkey Trot!
